Washington Wizards center Vernon Carey Jr. entered concussion protocol following a minor car accident, the team announced Thursday.

The third-year player will be listed is day-to-day. No more details about the traffic accident were provided.

Carey, 21, is entering his third NBA season with career averages of 2.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 6.1 minutes in 26 games (five starts).

The Charlotte Hornets drafted him in the second round out of Duke in 2020 and traded him with guard Ish Smith to the Wizards last February for center Montrezl Harrell.
