White Sox sign RHP Erick Fedde to 2-year, $15M deal

The Chicago White Sox signed right-hander Erick Fedde to a two-year, $15 million contract on Wednesday.

Fedde passed his physical, formalizing the agreement reached last week. Right-hander Yohan Ramirez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Fedde, 30, revived his career in South Korea last season after pitching the previous six seasons for the Washington Nationals. With the NC Dinos in 2023, Fedde won the KBO’s triple crown with a 20-6 record, a 2.00 ERA and 209 strikeouts.

In was the first time in KBO history a foreign-born pitcher recorded 20 wins with at least 200 strikeouts. His efforts earned him the Choi-Dong-won Award, which goes to the league’s top pitcher and also was named KBO MVP.

With the Nationals, Fedde was 21-33 with a 5.41 ERA over 102 appearances (88 starts). He made 27 starts in both 2021 and 2022.

Ramirez, 28, appeared in five games with the White Sox in 2023 posting a 9.00 ERA in four innings. In four seasons with four teams, Ramirez is 6-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 102 relief appearances.
