South Beach normally would have been rocking Thursday night when the Miami Dolphins excited their fan base by taking former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa fifth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He’s pretty much the most exciting quarterback the Fins have rostered since the days of Dan Marino.

Alas, the streets of South Beach were empty due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In Tua’s first message to Dolphins fans Saturday morning, the electric young quarterback called for fans to remain at home and stay safe. He ended the short video by saying “Fins out.”

The all-virtual aspect of the 2020 NFL Draft has been something to watch. Players and general managers in their own homes, opening them up for the masses to see. A sense of closeness at a time when society seems separated.

Tua is already taking on his future role role as the face of the Dolphins’ franchise. That’s pretty awesome stuff, too.
