Coming off a 4-8 season, the North Texas Mean Green couldn’t have asked for an easier opener than Saturday’s game against Houston Baptist.

Early on, North Texas was taking it to the lesser competition. That included quarterback Jason Bean connecting with young wide receiver Greg White on this awesome 32-yard touchdown.

This is the battery mate that North Texas head coach Seth Littrell figured would shine throughout the 2020 season. Bean is being called on to replace all-time great Mean Green quarterback Mason Fine under center.

So far so good. The quarterback completed 8-of-14 passes for 160 yards with three touchdowns and one interception to start the game.

After earning three straight bowl appearances under Littrell, the Mean Green struggled big time last season. While he’s not coaching for his job, a strong performance in the Conference USA is needed this season.

On a related note, isn’t it great to have college football back?
