WATCH: Michael Bennett goes overboard with dirty hit on Andy Dalton after INT

Michael Bennett

Adding insult to injury, Michael Bennett abused Andy Dalton by hitting him repeatedly following an interception on Sunday when the Seattle Seahawks visited the Cincinnati Bengals.

The first block was understandable, even though it was a block in the back. The second hit was questionable — at best. The third hit was absolutely dirty, and it will be interesting to see what kind of response we see from the league after Bennett clearly speared Dalton while he was on the ground.

It’s one thing to block until the whistle when you’re a defensive lineman blocking an offensive lineman on a running play, but this was completely out of line. Bennett should be fined for his actions, at the least, and he was flagged for his actions on the play.

One wonders if perhaps his disgust with quarterback salaries has something to do with this. He recently said quarterbacks make too much money, which is why teams can’t afford to protect them.
