Bartolo Colon famously made news last year when he threw out Justin Mour with an unbelievable behind-the-back toss to first base.

In case you missed the highlight or have forgotten what an incredible play it was, here’s a flashback for you.

Perhaps as a joke, or perhaps because it would be amazing if all the New York Mets pitchers could pull off such a stunt, they put in some work to practice the play themselves during Spring Training (video courtesy Maria I. Guardado of NJ Advance Media).

Now, it must be noted that Colon is a rare athlete whose skills cannot easily be replicated. Despite his extra padding in the middle, he is actually quite adept at pulling off feats of “what the heck did he just do?”

With that in mind, we shouldn’t hold our breath waiting for the “Bartolo” to become commonplace when watching the Mets play this year.
