The Memphis Express got some poor play from quarterback Brandon Silvers Sunday, prompting head coach Mike Singletary to call on Johnny Manziel.
Manziel entered the game midway through the second quarter, down 16-8, as Express fans chanted, “Johnny! Johnny! Johnny!”
His first play of the game was a quarterback run to the right, and Manziel gained a first down on the play much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
The Iron defense certainly has to mind its Ps and Qs with Manziel under center, because he still has a penchant to run on any given play. Yet after a few plays in which Manziel failed to make anything happen through the air, he came up with this beauty of a throw.
That throw led to a field goal attempt for Memphis. Unfortunately, it went wide right.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out for him in the coming weeks as the AAF season winds to a close.
