Florida cornerback Duke Dawson will likely find himself in the NFL here soon. But he’s going to have to keep his emotions in check if he hopes to make a career of this whole football thing.
In the second quarter of Florida’s game against LSU on Saturday, Dawson threw a punch (or a slap) at Tigers wide receiver Russell Gage.
It landed smack on Gage’s face mask, an incident that could have injured Dawson himself.
Somehow, Dawson was not ejected for the smack. This, in a college football world where players are ejected for questionable targeting calls on a weekly basis.
In any event, we’re pretty sure Gators head coach Jim McElwain will have a conversation with his young defensive back about this incident moving forward.
