With his New York Jets trailing 7-0 in the first quarter against the Denver Broncos, it looked like rookie quarterback Sam Darnold was on the verge of tying the game.
On third-and-9 from the Broncos 12-yard line, Darnold seemed to have Jermaine Kearse open in the end zone. At the very least, Broncos safety Darian Stewart appeared to have committed pass interference.
It was a downright terrible non-call.

The very next play saw Jason Myers miss a 30-yard field goal attempt — leading to the Jets coming away empty.
Needless to say, this sent Twitter into a frenzy.
Darnold’s third-down pass to Kearse is incomplete. Field goal unit on. Sure looked like there was early contact.

Darnold takes a shot to the end zone for Jermaine Kearse. Looked like PI, but ref ruled it uncatchable.

Where was the flag for Pass Interference? Kearse was held before the ball got there inside the end zone. Now the field goal is no good. This is not good early on. #Jets

If he's not grabbed, Kearse has a shot at that ball. Don't understand the no call. #Jets

That ball to Kearse was not uncatchable. Terrible no call.
