Travis Kelce breaks Jerry Rice all-time NFL Playoff record in stunning fashion

Travis Kelce and Jerry Rice in the same sentence. It really is insane to see how Taylor Swift’s lesser half has found himself in such elite company.

By virtue of an eight-yard catch in the second quarter of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end surpassed Rice for the most receptions in NFL Playoff history with 152. The NFL’s social media account was quick to point it out.

Sunday’s outing against the Ravens represented Kelce’s 21st career playoff game. To put this into perspective, Rice played in 29 playoff games during his first-ballot Hall of Fame career.

It’s very rare that anyone would break a Jerry Rice record. He holds all of the top spots in every major receiving category in NFL history.

Kelce, 34, did just that on Sunday. That catch also had him with seven receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown before one half had even been played.

For what it’s worth, former New England Patriots running back James White holds the NFL record for receptions in a playoff game with 15. With what we’re seeing from Travis Kelce on Sunday, it’s something to keep an eye on.
