The New York Subliners shut down the Toronto Ultra 5-0 in the best-of-nine grand final to win the 2023 Call of Duty League championship on Sunday in Las Vegas.

The Subliners — who exacted their revenge after being swept by the Ultra in the winners’ bracket final Saturday — earned $1 million, while the Ultra took home $660,000.

Although they were knocked out of the winners’ bracket, the Subliners still found a way to clinch a grand final berth by beating the Atlanta FaZe 3-1 in Saturday’s elimination bracket final.

In the grand final, the Subliners opened with a 250-84 win on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint and didn’t look back, posting consecutive victories on Breenbergh Hotel Search & Destroy (6-1), Breenbergh Hotel Control (3-0), Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint (250-236) and Embassy Search & Destroy (6-4) to clinch the victory.

American Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley led New York with 91 kills and a plus-1.52 kills-to-deaths ratio, while England native Jamie “Insight” Craven finished with a team-high 65 kills for Toronto.

The top eight teams from the CDL season opened the $2.38 million double-elimination event on Thursday.
