The Dallas Wings will look to their defense to get back on the winning track when they play host to the Seattle Storm on Friday at Arlington, Texas, in the first of a two-game miniseries.
The teams will also square off on Sunday at Arlington, meeting for the third time in 10 days. The game will open a five-game homestand for the Wings.
The Wings (6-5) return home after a five-game road trip in which they won twice, beating Connecticut and Seattle before losing to the league-leading Las Vegas Aces 84-78 on Sunday. Allisha Gray led Dallas with 24 points in the loss to Las Vegas and continues to be a force on both ends of the court.
“I have always been the same me — a team player,” Gray said. “I always do what I’m supposed to do on the court, play hard every night and try to impact the game everywhere I can.”
Arike Ogunbowale added 21 points in the setback. Satou Sabally had 11 ponts with 10 rebounds and Kayla Thornton set a career high with 15 rebounds.
The Wings grabbed a season-high 50 rebounds, their most since 2018 and tied for the second most in franchise history. Dallas held Las Vegas to seven points under its season average after allowing Seattle a season-low 51 points on June 3.
The Storm (6-5) hit the road after a 72-60 home win over Atlanta on Tuesday that snapped a two-game losing streak.
Jewell Loyd led Seattle with 26 points, with Breanna Stewart adding 19 and Ezi Magbegor scoring 12, including a 3-pointer in the final minute that iced the game for the Storm.
“I’m very satisfied because the way we finished is showing growth,” Seattle coach Noelle Quinn said. “We struggled with that in the past few games with how we responded when teams hit us and punch us. I’m super proud with how we responded (against Atlanta).”
