Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history. But if, for some reason, there’s any doubts, his efficiency compared to dunk attempts should change that.
According to Tom Haberstroh of NBC Sports, Curry is 16-of-25 on three-point attempts from from 28 feet and beyond this year. He’s averaging 1.92 points on those shots.
That’s impressive enough by itself.
But so far in 2018-19, the entire NBA is averaging 1.82 points per dunk attempt. You know, the thing we usually call the highest-percentage shot in basketball.
Instead, Curry is dunking on everyone from nearly 30 feet. And this isn’t Michael Jordan getting super-stretchy in Space Jam to defeat the Monstars; Curry is making a mockery of what NBA defenders consider a realistic shooting range.
Sure, the percentage likely isn’t sustainable. He was a combined 55-of-168 from 28-plus feet during the last two seasons, according to Basketball-Reference.
But it’s an impressive testament to Curry’s three-point prowess.
