The most popular figure of the 2018 men’s NCAA tournament is Loyola-Chicago team chaplain Sister Jean, and she has a wonderful sense of humor.
And the 98-year-old is good for a verbal joust.
Earlier in the week, former Michigan and NBA star Jalen Rose posted a video of his grandma saying, “Sister Jean, it’s been a good ride. But it’s over Saturday. Go Blue!”
Friday in San Antonio, Sister Jean provided a response to the dozens of assembled media members. Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic passed along the humorous comment.
Sister Jean said she saw Jalen Rose’s grandma and her comments on Facebook. “Someone said maybe you need a pair of boxing gloves. We will see what happens.”

Sister Jean could get the last laugh if Loyola continues its Cinderella run Saturday, though Michigan is also one of the hottest teams in the country. The Wolverines have won 13 straight games.
No matter the result, though, we’re sure to hear final thoughts from Sister Jean — and potentially Rose’s grandma.
