Boston Red Sox second baseman Trevor Story is expected to miss the rest of the season due to an illness.

Manager Alex Cora confirmed Thursday that Story won’t travel to Toronto for this weekend’s series and he will also likely miss next week’s season-ending set with Tampa Bay in Boston.

Story was placed on the 10-day injured list with a bruised left heel on Sept. 22 and has not played since Sept. 11.

Story, 29, batted .238 with 16 homers and 66 RBIs in 94 games in his first season with the Red Sox.

He signed a six-year, $140 million contract as a free agent after leaving the Colorado Rockies.
