If you needed more affirmation that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is the real deal, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is here for you.
“I’m not even talking or discussing sophomore slumps. I’m looking at cutups and looking at improving and inserting some new thoughts and ideas. You shake his hand and you feel like he’s a guy who’s hard to get off his spot and that’s going to serve him well throughout his career,” Payton said, via ESPN. “I like the look in his eye. When the game starts and you’re watching the game, you feel calm watching him play — and that’s a good trait because you trust him.
The praise is certainly warranted. With the help of the league’s best offensive line and star running back Ezekiel Elliott, Prescott won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season.
He finished fourth among quarterbacks in DYAR and third in DVOA, per Football Outsiders. Prescott also tallied over 3,900 total yards with 29 touchdowns compared to four interceptions.
While Payton and the Saints have yet to face off against Prescott’s Cowboys, the Super Bowl-champion coach’s praise is yet another notch in the belt of Prescott.
