Russell Wilson: Carson Wentz will ‘be a great football player for a long time’

Carson Wentz leads one of the most explosive NFL offenses

This Sunday, Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will host rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wilson, being the genuine guy he is, gave a strong vote of confidence in the rookie.

“I’ve been fortunate to watch Carson this past year and see a few of his games and he’s playing great football and he’s going to be a great football player for a long time,” Wilson said, per Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com.

“He’s athletic, he can make all the throws, he’s a smart guy, he’s competitive. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s a great football player. You guys have a good one in him.”

This game will feature two mobile, dual-threat quarterbacks showcase their talents at CenturyLink Field.

Wentz recently admitted he is a big fan of Wilson, having lived in North Carolina where Wilson attended college. He highlighted Wilson’s calm demeanor in the pocket as a tremendous asset.

“He’s just really calm back there. He’s got really calm feet and just very poised. I think it’s impressive the way he’s really poised.”

Wilson is one of the best when it comes to remaining composed when under pressure. Currently, his stock is on the rise, which follows his typical trend as he tends to really pick up his level of play towards the latter part of the season.

Over Wilson’s last three games, he has scored a total of nine touchdowns and had just one interception. The Seahawks are on a two-game winning streak after managing an underdog victory at Gillette Stadium last week.

Wentz’s Eagles won last week but have lost some steam overall after starting the season red hot. The rookie has gone two games without scoring a touchdown while coughing up two interceptions.

It is cool to see the mutual admiration the two young quarterback have for each other. This Sunday, it will be all business, however, as Wentz prepares for a difficult test against the Legion of Boom in Week 11.
