New Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera made an eyebrow-raising statement about Dwayne Haskins on Wednesday.

Speaking to the press at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, Rivera said that Haskins is “not anointed” as the team’s starting quarterback, per Nate Davis of USA Today.

Now, competition is good and healthy. And last season as a rookie (selected No. 15 overall) Haskins showed he’s still an unpolished product. But this could be about more than just Haskins. It could have to do with the team’s approach to the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft, Washington may be the team that shocks us all.
