Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez left Monday’s start against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals after five innings with an apparent injury to his pitching arm.

Marquez went to the mound to warm up for the top of the sixth but appeared to experience discomfort in his arm. Rockies manager Bud Black and trainers went to the mound and Marquez pointed to his forearm.

He was removed from the game and went to the clubhouse. He allowed two runs on three hits and fanned four with no walks. Marquez, who is in his eighth major league season, all with the Rockies, began the night 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA.
