The New York Mets have agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Chad Smith on a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training, according to multiple media reports on Sunday.

Smith pitched in 10 games last season for the Oakland Athletics, compiling a 1-2 record and 6.59 ERA with seven walks, nine strikeouts and 15 hits allowed in 13 2/3 innings. He finished five games.

Smith, 28, was an 11th-round pick of the Miami Marlins in 2016 out of Ole Miss. The Marlins traded him to the Colorado Rockies in August 2020, and he made his MLB debut for the Rockies in May 2022, finishing the season 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA, 15 walks and 23 strikeouts in 18 innings over 15 games.

Colorado traded him to Oakland in December 2022, and the Athletics made him a free agent on Nov. 6.
