Something about the Miami Marlins provides an allure to former MLB greats and members of prominent Republican families. Tagg Romney, one of former GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s sons, has joined forces with Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine in a bid to buy the Marlins.

Romney has worked in an MLB front office before. Late in 2005, Romney was named the Chief Marketing Officer of the Los Angeles Dodgers, although that proved to be a short lived experience.
Glavine had a long MLB career as a pitcher. He pitched with the Atlanta Braves from 1987-2002, was a part of five National League Pennant winning squads (1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999), as well as the 1995 World Series champions. From 2003-2007, Glavine pitched for the New York Mets. He returned to the Braves in 2008, finishing his career in Atlanta that year. He won two Cy Young Awards (1991, 1998), was a 10-time All-Star, the 1995 World Series MVP, and was voted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
Of course, Glavine and Romney are not the only power duo to express interest in the Marlins.
New York Yankees icon Derek Jeter and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush have previously been linked to Miami. On Wednesday, it was reported that the two had joined forces.
