According to New England Patriots beat writer Jim McBride, the team has re-signed running back Rex Burkhead to a multi-year deal.
The @Patriots have agreed to a multiyear contract with RB Rex Burkhead @RBrex2022 according to a league source. Burkhead collected more than 500 yards from scrimmage with 8 TDs in 2017.

This seems a logical move considering the Patriots let Dion Lewis walk in free agency. Burkhead came on strong towards the mid-to-latter part of the 2017 season when he recorded a total of 518 scrimmage yards and eight total touchdowns.
When healthy, the 27-year-old running back is strong on late downs and is a total red-zone threat.
