Report: Packers sign TE Lance Kendricks

A day after adding Pro Bowl tight end Martellus Bennett, the Green Bay Packers have reportedly doubled down at this position.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Green Bay has signed recently released former Los Angeles Rams tight end Lance Kendricks.

Kendricks, 29, has played his entire six-year career with the Rams after they made him a second-round pick back in 2011. This past season saw the Wisconsin product put up a career-high 50 receptions to go with 499 yards and two touchdowns in one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

It’s an intriguing development for a Packers team that has avoided free agency a whole heck of a lot in the past. While Kendricks himself figures to come cheap, it just gives Aaron Rodgers yet another target to work with on offense.

In addition to being a capable receiving tight end, Kendricks can also play in the backfield as a fullback. That’s definitely something we shouldn’t ignore when analyzing this move from a Packers’ standpoint.
