Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor is being accused of raping an exotic dancer at Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club in Philadelphia, per Philadelphia magazine.
Agholor’s alleged victim is a 27-year-old dancer, who said she was sexually assaulted at the club. Per the report, Agholor went to the club, which is just minutes away from the team’s facilities this spring, with two other Eagles players.
“There was an allegation made against one of the [Eagles] players of a sexual assault that was reported by one of the female dancers,” said Police Commissioner Richard Ross, per Philadelphia magazine. “Our Special Victims Unit is actively running on the investigation.”
Video evidence from the scene of the alleged crime are being pursued, and the Eagles have been informed about the incident, per the report.
“We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor,” said Derek Boyko, a spokesman for the Eagles. “The organization has been in contact with Nelson and with the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment.”
Agholor, a first-round pick of the Eagles last year (No. 20 overall), was expected to become an integral part of Doug Pederson’s quick-hitting passing game this year. Though at this time, it appears his availability for the upcoming season could be in doubt.
For his part, Nelson Agholor apparently feels like it was “a setup.”
Source close to situation, w/ties to Agholor, describes the situation to me as “a setup” and says he’s confident Agholor will be cleared.
