Report: Blake Griffin set to visit Suns Saturday

By Jesse Reed

The Los Angeles Clippers are going to have to fight to keep Blake Griffin, it seems. The talented power forward is reportedly scheduled for a visit with the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, per Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. He notes the Suns can offer Griffin a four-year deal worth $130 million.

Griffin opted out of his player option with the Clippers last week to become a free agent in July.

A five-time All-Star, he averaged 21.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 2016-17 before suffering a season-ending injury three games into the Clippers’ first-round matchup against the Utah Jazz.

Griffin to Phoenix is a very intriguing match. The Suns have some very talented young backcourt players and only added to that group during the draft. Josh Jackson gives them an aggressive wing who loves to attack the hoop. Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker are both extremely fun to watch and quite competent at scoring.

Landing Griffin to play next to Tyson Chandler down low would significantly boost Phoenix’s offense. His athleticism and growing repertoire of moves around the basket are a perfect complement to Chandler’s game down low.
