Raptors announce Kyle Lowry to undergo wrist surgery, hopefully return for playoffs

Kyle Lowry will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies from his right wrist. The Toronto Raptors hope to have him back by the start of the playoffs.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports Lowry could return for regular season games before the playoffs.

This is a massive hit to Toronto’s chances of climbing above the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference and their chances of winning in the playoffs. Lowry has been the best point guard in the East this season, averaging 21.7 points and 6.6 assists per 36 minutes, leading the league in minutes per game, shooting 41.7 percent from 3 and currently ranking fourth inĀ Real Plus-Minus.

In Lowry’s stead, Cory Joseph will take the reigns as the Raptors’ starting point guard.
