Former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder is the betting favorite to replace Nate McMillan in Atlanta, edging out up-and-coming assistant Charles Lee.

Sportsbetting.ag lists Snyder at +200 to land the job while Lee, the lead assistant coach in Milwaukee, is +300. Former Brooklyn head coach — and one-time Hawks assistant — Kenny Atkinson is a close third at +350.

Snyder, 56, went 372-264 in eight seasons leading the Jazz from 2014-22. Snyder walked away from the Jazz in June with the second-most wins in franchise history (Jerry Sloan 1,127). He led the Jazz to the playoffs in his final six seasons, finishing with a 21-30 postseason mark.

Snyder was also the head coach at Missouri, going 126-91 in seven seasons, leading the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament four times.

Lee was elevated to top assistant in Milwaukee after Darvin Ham left to become head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Atkinson is currently an assistant coach with Golden State. He turned down the head coaching job in Charlotte last summer to remain with the Warriors. He was an assistant in Atlanta from 2012-16. He went 118-190 in four seasons as the Nets’ head coach.

Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jordi Fernandez is +700 by Sportsbetting.ag for the gig, followed by San Antonio assistant Mitch Johnson (+800) and G-League head coach Miles Simon (+850).

McMillan, 58, was fired Tuesday after a 29-30 first half. McMillan had been the Hawks’ coach since taking over after Lloyd Pierce’s firing during the 2020-21 season. Joe Prunty is serving as the interim head coach.
