Pistons sign center Boban Marjanovic to offer sheet

The Detroit Pistons will be adding a massive big man to go with Andre Drummond after reportedly signing San Antonio Spurs center Boban Marjanovic to a three-year, $21 million offer sheet.

A fan favorite in San Antonio, Marjanovic didn’t necessarily fill the stat sheet a season ago. The 7-foot-3 center averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in less than 10 minutes per game.

Though, it must be noted that the Serbian did perform well when given an opportunity as a rookie. In the 19 games that he put up 13-plus minutes, the 27 year old averaged 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per.

After signing Pau Gasol, San Antonio doesn’t have the cash under the cap to match Detroit’s offer for Marjanovic, meaning that he will ultimately end up in Detroit as the team’s top backup at center.

San Antonio might have a replacement for Boban in the form of Orlando Magic center Dewayne Dedmon, who the team signed to a two-year, $6 million offer sheet on Thursday.
