Orioles’ DH Mark Trumbo out 3-4 weeks with quad strain

Mark Trumbo

With the regular season still two weeks away, the Baltimore Orioles are dealing with some bad news. Designated hitter Mark Trumbo will be out for at least the early portion of the regular season with a quad injury.

Trumbo is coming off of something of a down year for Baltimore. He hit .234/.289/.397 for the Orioles in 2017. But while his power numbers were also down, he did hit a respectable 23 home runs.

Trumbo is a two-time All-Star. He’s only one year removed from a career year, in which he hit .256/.316/.533 with 47 home runs in 2016.

Look for Pedro Alvarez to handle the majority of the DH at-bats while Trumbo is on the shelf.
