Otega Oweh scored 20 points to lead Oklahoma to an 82-43 win over Mississippi Valley State on Friday in Norman, Okla.

The Sooners controlled the glass throughout, outrebounding the Delta Devils 51-23.

Oweh was 8-of-11 from the floor. Through two games, he’s averaging 19 points.
After a back-and-forth start, the Sooners took control with a 9-0 spurt in just more than a minute.

Rivaldo Soares scored seven of his 11 points in that stretch, and seven of the Sooners’ points during the stretch came off Mississippi Valley State turnovers.

Though the Sooners turned the ball over more than the Delta Devils — 12-11 — the points off turnover swung heavily in the Sooners’ favor. Oklahoma outscored MSVU 23-13 off turnovers.

The Sooners also dominated in second-chance points (20-6), bench points (30-13), points in the paint (38-22) and fast-break points (16-2).

Mississippi Valley State started just 6 of 21 from the field.

Oweh scored 15 points in the first half, as Oklahoma built a 27-point lead by the break.

In the second half, the Sooners continued to expand their lead for much of the half, leading by as many as 43 points after a 17-4 stretch punctuated by back-to-back 3-pointers from Le’Tre Darthard.

Darthard hit three 3-pointers in the win and finished with 10 points.

Rayquan Brown led the Delta Devils (0-2) with 14 points.

MSVU was just 1 of 8 from behind the 3-point line and just 8 of 14 (57.1%) on free throws.

The Sooners hit nine 3-pointers and were 15 of 20 from the free-throw line.

Oklahoma was without starter Jalon Moore, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Sooners’ season-opening win over Central Michigan.
