NFL fans and players were super excited about the possibility that the league would offer a new alternative to the onside kick.

It included teams being able to attempt the equivalent of a fourth-and-15 play twice per game in lieu of the traditional onside kick.

For a while there, it seemed like NFL owners would pass the rule. This would have set up one of the most dramatic rule changes in league history. During their virtual meeting on Thursday, the powers to be opted against enacting the new rule.

It’s rather obvious that fans around the NFL world were not too happy about this end result. Others were just fine with it.
