NFL ‘randomly’ selects DK Metcalf for a drug test following viral clip

There are many reasons why several people refer to the NFL as the ‘No Fun League.’ Based on DK Metcalf’s recent experience with the league office, the Seattle Seahawks receiver might agree with that playful yet negative nickname for the sport.

On Feb. 17, with the NFL’s offseason in full swing, Metcalf decided to participate in the annual NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. Not only did he often look like he might actually be able to toy with the idea of playing basketball during his off-time, Metcalf completely stole the show, winning MVP for the event.

The same freakish abilities that help Metcalf stand out on the gridiron translated to the basketball court, where his quickness and verticality led to several highlight-worthy plays. Not only was Metcalf having fun on the hardwood, but he also recently shared a short clip of him practically defying gravity to soar up to the sky for a one-handed catch without pads.

Whether it was the clip or his sensational slam dunks at the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, someone at the NFL league office took notice of Metcalf’s moments in the spotlight.

NFL requires DK Metcalf to submit urine sample

Now, the NFL is requiring Metcalf to submit a drug test, proving he isn’t trying to slip in any performance-enhancing supplements during the offseason. Keep in mind these drug tests are supposed to be ‘randomly selected.’ Does anyone really believe there’s no correlation between Metcalf’s recent highlights and the NFL’s sudden drug test request?

We’re not too convinced of the random timing here. Yet, Metcalf has always been a physical specimen. There’s no reason to believe he’s trying to cheat the system during the league’s downtime. Yet, clearly, the NFL wants to know for sure.
