New York Mets acquire Anthony Banda from San Francisco Giants

The New York Mets acquired left-hander Anthony Banda from the San Francisco Giants on Friday in exchange for minor league infielder Will Toffey.

Banda, who has 18 games of major league experience over four separate seasons, last pitched in the big leagues in 2020 with the Tampa Bay Rays. He is 4-3 with a 5.96 ERA in the major leagues for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2017) and the Rays (2018-20).

Banda, 27, was 3-2 with a 6.86 ERA in 10 appearances (five starts) at Triple-A Sacramento this season. The Mets said he will report to Triple-A Syracuse.

Toffey, 26, was batting .178 with six home runs and 15 RBIs in 34 games at Double-A Binghamton. He has a .235 batting average with 21 home runs and 115 RBIs in four minor league seasons with the Oakland A’s and Mets organizations.
