The Brooklyn Nets signed free agent center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract, the team announced Monday.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

The 6-foot-11, 220-pound Noel will add size off the Brooklyn bench. Known for his defense, Noel, 28, has averaged 2.4 blocks per every 36 minutes over the course of his career.

His contract was bought out in late February by the Detroit Pistons after appearing in just 14 games this season, averaging 2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 10.9 minutes per game.

Drafted No. 6 overall in 2013, Massachusetts native Noel has career averages of 7.2 points and 6.1 rebounds in 464 games (222 starts) with the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks and Pistons.

The Nets begin a five-game road trip Tuesday night in Houston against the Rockets.
