Luis Castillo allowed two hits over six scoreless innings and J.P. Crawford hit a home run to lead the visiting Seattle Mariners to a 4-0 victory Sunday over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Phoenix.

Seattle took two out of three games in the series and won for the fourth time in its last five games. Arizona, which mustered only three hits, has lost eight of its last 10 games.

The Diamondbacks lost four of six games in the just-completed homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals and Mariners. Arizona was shut out for only the second time this season after falling 9-0 to the New York Mets at home July 6.

Castillo (7-7) struck out seven, walked one and did not allow a runner past second base.

Seattle rallied for two runs with two outs against Merrill Kelly (9-5) in the first inning.

Crawford walked to open the game and Julio Rodriguez followed with a single. Two outs later, Teoscar Hernandez singled to load the bases. Kelly then walked Mike Ford to force in Crawford.

Ty France, who finished with three hits, followed with a single to score Rodriguez and put Seattle ahead 2-0.

Kelly threw 41 pitches in the first inning and finished with 90 in five innings. He allowed three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Crawford hit a home run in the third inning on a 3-1 fastball from Kelly to put Seattle ahead 3-0.
Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, also doubled to lead off the ninth inning.

With one out in the ninth, Suarez hit a single to center field to score Crawford and give Seattle a 4-0 lead.

Castillo worked his way out of a couple of scoring opportunities for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona’s Christian Walker twice reached base before being doubled off following line drives hit by Dominic Canzone.

The Diamondbacks also had two on and two out in the third inning for National League Rookie of the Year candidate Corbin Carroll. Castillo struck out Carroll on three pitches to end the threat.
