Magic Johnson is a Los Angeles man, through and through, so it’s not surprising that he’s excited about the Los Angeles Rams selecting Jared Goff No. 1 overall.
What is surprising, however, is the amount of faith he’s already displaying in the young quarterback out of Cal right out of the gates.

That’s a tall order, and oh, by the way, no pressure kid.
Johnson was one of the first to buy into the Rams moving back to Los Angeles this past winter when he made it clear he’d be buying a luxury suite as soon as the became available. He’s understandably amped about having NFL football and his beloved Rams back in sunny southern California.
Goff is going to be thrown to the fire from the get-go as a rookie. The team is hoping to start him in Week 1 when the Rams head up north to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara. He’s been a lifelong fan of the 49ers, so this is going to be quite the backdrop for the rookie to make his first noise as an NFL quarterback.
The Rams have one Super Bowl win in franchise history, back in 1999 when Kurt Warner burst onto the scene and the Greatest Show on Turf was the hottest show in town.
Goff doesn’t have the offensive firepower to work with at this time to compare to Warner’s receiving corps. He does, however, have a stud running back in Todd Gurley who should be a tremendous help to him this year and beyond.
With that in mind, the Rams have some work left to do before the Super Bowl is an achievable goal. But in the future, who knows what will happen?
