Los Angeles Rams make defensive tackle Desjuan Johnson Mr. Irrelevant in 2023 NFL Draft

Every year the final pick in the NFL Draft earns the title of Mr. Irrelevant. After three days and 259 picks, we now know who the 2023 NFL Draft’s Mr. Irrelevant is, with the Los Angeles Rams selecting Desjuan Johnson, a defensive tackle out of Toledo.

Johnson had to practice patience, seeing 258 other draft prospects get selected ahead of him, but as we’ve seen in the past, it doesn’t matter when you were selected. Take last year’s Mr. Irrelevant, for example. Brock Purdy, despite being the very last player taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, had a great rookie season after a string of injuries struck the QB depth chart in San Francisco. Now the second-year pro may be looking at grabbing hold of the starting gig for good.

Johnson, who measures 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, is 23 years old and is known for having a strong motor, capable of making an impact as a pass rusher.

So who knows what’s in store for Johnson? He may not take Aaron Donald’s job any time soon, but who better to learn from than a future Hall of Fame defensive tackle?
