Kyle Busch reportedly could make Australian Supercars debut in 2024

Richard Childress Racing and Erebus Motorsport have discussed a partnership that would see two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch enter the Adelaide 500 in Australia next season, per a report from V8 Sleuth.

The Adelaide 500 is an Australian Supercars series event that takes place on the Streets of Adelaide in South Australia. It is one of the premier events in both that discipline and in all of Australian motorsports.

The news item comes as little surprise as there continues to be a collaboration between RCR and Erebus. For one, RCR entered recently crowned Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki in the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in August.

Given the similarity between the current Cup Series cars and those used in Supercars, a technical partnership has started to formulate as well. Erebus Motorsports is currently working towards fielding a part-time Cup Series program.

Childress is currently in Australia where he has expressed a desire to enter Kostecki in additional Cup Series races in 2024. It’s only a natural fit that Childress would offer a Busch one-off in exchange.

“We’ve talked to him some about coming,” Childress told V8 Sleuth in regards to Kyle Busch entering the Adelaide 500. “I think he might one of these days. He’d enjoy this. The track’s good, right, the kind of racing that he’d like. I think he’d do good over here.”

Typically, the Adelaide 500 is a race that doesn’t permit one-off races, so-called wild card entries, but Erebus CEO Barry Ryan expressed confidence that it could happen.

“We were at the state dinner the other night and the [South Australian] Premier came up and said he wanted him [Childress] to bring Kyle Busch back next year, so I think we could make it happen,” Ryan said.
