WATCH: Jason Kipnis takes out ketchup bottle in epic fashion

Jason Kipnis

We know that Jason Kipnis is a good second baseman. But if the Cleveland Indians star gets bored with life at the keystone, he might have a career as a blocking back with the Cleveland Browns.

Kipnis showed his blocking technique in a condiment race at Cleveland’s Progressive Field, knocking the bottle of ketchup straight to the ground.

Yes, you read that right. This is not a joke.

A few thoughts on this.

One, Kipnis may not be a guy to take on in a double play. If he could do that just by bumping into someone, imagine the damage he could inflict when ready for contact.

Two, the ketchup guy got too cocky. He looked back to taunt his opponents and, who knows, maybe he was also trying to impress some cute tomato sitting in the first row. At any rate, let this be a lesson. When you’re in a race, all of your attention needs to be on that finish line until you cross it.

Three, where are his opponents here? Were they even trying in this race? The ketchup guy had such a lead that he was able to slow down to turn around and show off, get knocked down, get up in that big costume, and never even fall out of first place. That’s just an unacceptable effort from mustard and mayonnaise.

If we can’t expect better competition from our condiments, society might really be in a lot of trouble.
