Jarvis Landry wants Browns to land Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Jarvis Landry envisions a reunion in Cleveland with his old college teammate at LSU, Odell Beckham Jr. After being traded by Miami this month, he sent a message out on social media Monday morning that read, “WE WANT BECKHAM.”

A bit later, he once again implored OBJ to join him in Cleveland.

There’s a lot of uncertainty right now surrounding the future of Beckham Jr. with the New York Giants. Co-owner John Mara sent some shots across the bow on Sunday at the Annual Meeting, and he wouldn’t rule out the possibility that OBJ ends up getting traded.

Then on Monday morning, a report emerged indicating Beckham Jr. won’t even hit the field this year without a contract extension.

Some might wonder why the Giants are open to trading their best offensive weapon. After all, Beckham Jr. has been one of the best receivers in the NFL since he arrived on the scene as a rookie back in 2014, catching 313 passes for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns.

But off-field concerns have soured the Giants on investing long term on OBJ. Complicating matters, he’s made it clear he wants to be paid not only as the league’s top receiver, but more in line with what top quarterbacks are earning.

If any team has the money to make that happen, it’s the Browns. That said, they already have a talented receiver who’s had off-field troubles, so it could be hard to convince John Dorsey and Co. to make a bold move for OBJ.
