Greg Olsen: ‘Pats trying to get Gronk back, I’m like third in line’

The Carolina Panthers and veteran tight end Greg Olsen made news last week when it was announced the two would be parting ways with one another after nine seasons.

Already a force in the media world, Olsen took part in the Fox pre-game broadcast for Super Bowl LIV on Sunday. He was joined on the set by former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

In the proces, Olsen seemingly broke some news. He noted that New England is still looking for Gronkowski to end his one-year retirement and return to the team. As for Olsen, he’s third in line for the tight end-starved Patriots.

Whether this was tongue-in-cheek or something completely different, the idea of Olsen signing with New England makes sense.

The Pats saw their tight ends put up 37 receptions this past season. Olsen is averaging 55 over the course of his career and has earned three trips to the Pro Bowl.
