Carson Beck may not have led the Georgia Bulldogs to the College Football Playoff in his first season since taking over for Stetson Bennett at quarterback, but he’s still had a strong season. The Bulldogs are set to take on the undefeated Florida State Seminoles Saturday in the Capital One Orange Bowl, where Beck will get one final chance to put a stamp on an impressive first year running the show.

While the Bulldogs didn’t enjoy quite as much success as they had in 2022, when they capped off an undefeated season with a College Football Playoff Championship, there’s no denying the fact that Beck proved plenty capable as Georgia’s QB.

Beck’s work has not only placed him in a positive light among Bulldogs fans but also among NFL scouts evaluating the QB’s skills. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, multiple scouts thought Beck had an outside chance to become a first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In fact, there was reportedly so much interest in the QB prospect that Georgia coaches had to inform scouts of Beck’s intention to return to the Bulldogs for another season in 2025. Yet, there’s a belief that with another strong season, Beck could solidify his status as a first-round QB. If so, he’d easily surpass his former teammate, Stetson Bennett, who was the 128th overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2023. Keep in mind, Bennett led Georgia to consecutive National Championship wins.

Yet, Beck has what the 5-foot-11 Bennett could never grow into, and that’s legitimate NFL size at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. To NFL scouts, that’s the difference between a QB with sky-high potential and a career backup. We’ll see if Beck can live up to the potential scouts are seeing, but first, he needs to close out Georgia’s season on a high note and find a way to improve heading into 2024.
