U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu withdrew from the season-opening tournament in Melbourne, Australia, BBC reported Saturday.

Raducanu, a 19-year-old Brit, recently came out of isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 at a tournament in Abu Dhabi.

She was scheduled to play in the Melbourne Summer Set, which starts Tuesday and is a warm-up event for the Australian Open.

“The timing to compete in the first Melbourne event this week is too soon for me, having just returned from isolation,” Raducanu said.

Raducanu, ranked No. 19 in the world, has started her on-court preparation, however. On Friday, she posted a video to her Instagram account that showed her hitting balls at Rod Laver Arena, the primary venue for the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The Australian Open begins Jan. 17. Raducanu will be making first appearance in the tournament.
