Lamar Jackson recently made his first career NFL start, and the Baltimore Ravens quarterback heard from a couple of legends after the game.
According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, the rookie said he received congratulatory texts from Doug Williams and Randall Cunningham.

Williams was the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl and earned MVP honors in Washington’s victory over the Denver Broncos. He started 88 games over a nine-year NFL career (plus a brief USFL stop in the middle).
Cunningham spent 11 years with the Philadelphia Eagles and finished his career there as the second-best quarterback in franchise history. Prior to a torn in 1991, Cunningham was an elite dual-threat star.
They broke the mold for a quarterback.
Jackson has his own doubters to overcome, since he’s a dynamic running threat yet takes a hefty amount of criticism for his passing ability.
But he led the Ravens to an important victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in start No. 1. Jackson is just getting started.
