Detroit Red Wings forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Frans Nielsen will miss the remainder of the season due to their respective injuries, the team announced Thursday.
Bertuzzi has been nursing an upper-body injury, while Nielsen has been plagued by a lower-body ailment.
“It’s been unfortunate for Bert,” Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. “The focus right now for Bert is getting himself healthy at the start of next season. I know he’ll work hard with our medical staff to try to get himself into that position.”
Bertuzzi, 26, recorded seven points (five goals, two assists) in nine games this season. He is eligible to become a restricted free agent after the season.

Bertuzzi has collected 126 points (54 goals, 72 assists) in 208 career games since being selected by Detroit in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft.
He is the nephew of former NHL player Todd Bertuzzi.
Nielsen, who turns 37 on Saturday, had six points (one goal, five assists) in 29 games this season.
He has accumulated 473 points (167 goals, 306 assists) in 925 career games with the New York Islanders and Red Wings. He was selected by the Islanders in the third round of the 2002 NHL Draft.
