DeMarco Murray injury: Eagles RB could be out Sunday vs. Jets

Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray is dealing with a hamstring injury that could potentially keep him out on Sunday.

The Eagles are heading to New York to battle the Jets, and head coach Chip Kelly is not sure if Murray will be ready to take the field.

After his first two games, we’re not sure if this is a good or bad thing for the Eagles. Murray has been incredibly unproductive running the ball, gaining 11 yards on 21 carries. His two-yard performance in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys was “historically ineffective,” according to Elias.

The one area in which Murray has actually been helpful for Philadelphia is as a receiver, contributing nine catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Should Murray be unable to play against the Jets — a team that has allowed just 3.8 yards per carry — then fantasy football owners should expect Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews to see their numbers called on a regular basis.

Even if Murray is able to suit up, perhaps we shouldn’t expect too much of him, regardless.
