Crew waive MF Luis Diaz

The Columbus Crew waived midfielder Luis Diaz on Tuesday.

“We appreciate Luis’ contributions to our club, including during our 2020 MLS Cup championship season, and wish him well moving forward,” said Tim Bezbatchenko, the Crew’s president and general manager.

Diaz, a 24-year-old from Costa Rica, has one assist in four appearances this season.

In 83 MLS matches (51 starts) with the Crew since they acquired him via transfer in 2019, Diaz had six goals and 14 assists.

In four matches (three starts) during the 2020 playoffs, Diaz registered two assists.
