Cloud9 moved into a tie atop the standings in the League Championship Series Summer Split group stage on Friday.
They defeated the last-place Immortals to catch up with the Evil Geniuses at 9-3 as Week 4 action drew to a close. The Geniuses lost to NRG.
Other winners were Team Liquid, Dignitas and TSM.
The 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit will play every other team twice in the group phase, which runs through July 21. All group-stage matches consist of a single map.
The first- and second-place teams will head to the upper-bracket semifinals for the double-elimination playoffs. The third- through sixth-place teams will open the playoffs in the upper-bracket quarterfinals. The seventh- and eighth-place teams will enter the postseason in the lower bracket, while the ninth- and 10th-place teams will be eliminated.
The playoffs will feature best-of-five matches. The top three finishers will earn berths in the League of Legends World Championship, to be played in South Korea from Oct. 10 to Nov. 19. The fourth-place finisher will head to a wild-card qualifier with a chance to land a spot at the World Championship.
Cloud9 was playing on red when they defeated the Immortals (2-10) in 28 minutes. Robert “Blaber” Huang of the U.S. led the win with a kills/deaths/assists ratio of 6/1/13, while Edward “Tactical” Ra, also of the U.S., posted a 6/4/3 mark for the Immortals.
Also in 28 minutes, NRG (5-7) knocked off the Geniuses. Ian Victor “FBI” Huang of Australia scored a ratio of 9/2/11 for the winners, who were playing on blue, and Mohamed “Revenge” Kaddoura of the U.S. notched a 3/6/3 for the Geniuses.
Team Liquid (7-5) also won its match with 100 Thieves (5-7) in 28 minutes. Playing on blue, Park “Summit” Woo-tae of South Korea finished at 7/3/6 for Liquid, while Yiliang Peter “Doublelift” Peng of the U.S. paced the Thieves at 3/4/1.
Also playing on blue, Dignitas (6-6) needed 32 minutes to defeat FlyQuest (3-9). Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen of Denmark dominated for the winners at 10/1/3, while Mingyi “Spica” Lu of China carried FlyQuest at 7/3/3.
TSM (6-6), playing on blue, needed only 27 minutes to dispose of Golden Guardians (8-4). David “Insanity” Challe of the U.S. finished at 6/2/1 for TSM, and Kim “River” Dong-woo of South Korea led the Guardians at 3/0/5.
Week 5 begins Wednesday with five more matches.
