Buccaneers RB Doug Martin returns to practice

Doug Martin

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had some rotten luck at the running back position. First, Doug Martin injured his hamstring back in Week 2. Then shortly after that, backup running back Charles Sims was put on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Fortunately, Week 10 may be the game that Martin returns. Per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Martin was spotted practicing for the first time since his injury. This is great news, especially with the aforementioned Sims still out.

Jaquizz Rodgers shouldered the load until he himself was injured just recently.

The Bucs can only hope that Martin picks up where he left off last year. Martin finished 2015 with 1,402 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns.

If Martin can play in Week 10, he will face a Chicago Bears’ defense that has allowed just six rushing touchdowns to date. Nevertheless, having Martin back into the mix should lighten the load quite a bit for quarterback Jameis Winston.
