Boise State thumps UNLV for Mountain West title

Boise State quarterback Taylen Green had a hand in four touchdowns as the Broncos built a 17-point lead in the second quarter and rolled over UNLV 44-20 to win the Mountain West championship in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Green completed 12 of 15 passes for 226 yards and two scores, and added 90 yards on the ground and two touchdowns as Boise State (8-5) won its fifth Mountain West title. Green threw one interception, which Fred Thompkins returned 47 yards for a touchdown that tied the score at 14-14 in the second quarter.

The Broncos pulled away when Green hit Austin Bolt for a 57-yard touchdown with 13:32 left in the second quarter. After the Rebels fumbled on their next possession, Green immediately ran 70 yards for a 28-14 lead. Boise State’s Jonah Dalmas kicked a 31-yard field goal to capitalize on an interception by A’Marion McCoy, and it was 31-14 midway through the period.

Ashton Jeanty piled up 153 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, and Billy Bowens made four catches for 91 yards for Boise State.

UNLV’s Jayden Maiava went 15 of 29 passing for 166 yards but threw two interceptions. Vincent Davis Jr. scored the only offensive touchdown for the Rebels (9-4).
